As in many estate planning strategies, the goal in this one is to remove rapidly appreciating assets with the GRAT to make sure that there will be enough left over at the end of the day to pay off the premium loan amount.
Over the past number of years, the stock market's ever-rising performance meant that the use of a GRAT as an exit strategy was successful. ?The recent economic crisis and its aftermath, however, have caused many to rethink entering a premium finance plan and others to have difficulty exiting as planned.
On the other hand, current loan interest rates are very attractive. ?If investment returns tick up in the near future, premium finance will likely be more attractive than ever.
